I feel like dragons got a lot of play when we were kids and not so much anymore. I used to think about dragons a lot. I would read books about them, watch movies that featured them, and buy my friends dragon-themed stuff for their birthdays. Heck, there was a whole TV show that I'd watch regularly called Dragon Tales. They don't tell you that as you grow up, your circles become less and less focused on mythical creatures. There's not as much talk about unicorns, ligers, phoenixes. People aren't drawing pictures of them regularly. Birthday parties tend to have no theme at all, which blows. 

That is unless you're part of a DnD community. People who play DnD are in touch with the realm of the mythical in ways that most adults aren't. They know the difference between a Demogorgon and a Topaz Dragon and they're not afraid to show it.

  • This is why it's so fun to play Dungeons and Dragons. You get to tap into that childhood sense of wonder and fun. You get to enter a world in which anything is possible, and no one will make fun of you for wanting to talk about dragons. That's the kind of place you keep coming back to.
